Several fishermen families live in Noagaon village in Dirai Upazila. They are registered fishermen with the Fisheries Department. In the past, due to various adversities, they were unable to form and register a Fishermen's Cooperative Society.As a result, they were unable to take out a lease on a water reservoir even though they were on the banks of several small and large water reservoirs. When they informed the current Upazila Cooperative Officer about this, he fully supported them in forming and registering the association.On that day, the association's pre-registration training and information meeting about the Cooperative Association Act and Rules and Cooperatives. The association has been registered as Purba Naogaon Fishermen's Cooperative Association. Now they are moving towards fulfilling their dream of taking a lease of Jalmahal through their own association. This path will bring prosperity and socio-economic development.
